World of Birds

To see 400 different species of birds you should pay a visit to the largest bird park in Africa, "World of Birds" in the valley of Hout Bay. The animals are kept in large aviaries where you can walk through, totalling more than 100 large aviaries on more than 4 hectares of land.

World of Birds is open daily from 09:00 to 17:00 and is easily accessible by car and with the blue route of the hop-on hop-off bus from Cape Town. The park has a restaurant where you can drink and eat (snack or light lunch), you can also eat and drink and bring a picnic to the Flamingo terrace.

Birds that you can see during your visit include: flamingos, penguins, geese, ostriches, eagles, buzzards, vultures, hornbills, owls, parrots and toucans.

Besides birds you can also see some special reptiles and cute meerkats and monkeys. The "Monkey Jungle" is the residence of the playful squirrel-monkeys and opens between 11:30 and 13:00 and between 14:00 and 15:30. You can walk by staying between these times and admire the monkeys up close. Hold your bag tightly because the monkeys are very curious and before you know it they have taken something out of your bag.
