Top 10 Activities

A holiday to South Africa is a great experience. The country has so much to see, but also to experience. What do you think of: Table Mountain, the Kruger Park, Addo Elephant Park, Robben Island, the Wild Coast, Swaziland, the Winelands and the Garden Route? These are just a few of the many highlights of South Africa.

But as I said not only is there a lot to see but also lots to do in South Africa. Diving with sharks, whales up close by boat, snorkelling with seals, sandboarding in Hermanus, skiing in the Drakensberg, abseiling down Table Mountain, ballooning, kitesurfing in Bloubergstrand, golf in the Winelands..... South Africa is absolutely the land of unlimited possibilities when it comes to activities. There is so much to do for everyone. South Africa specialist offers you all the possibilities.

The owners Cor and Jolanda Stevens have been living in South Africa for years and know the country like no other. They regularly go out to stay in accommodations and take part in activities. You want some tips from them, here are the top ten "must do's":

1.The safari in South Africa
A game drive in the early morning or late afternoon, taking a bushwalk with a professional ranger, lounge overlooking the waterhole where animals gather. It's all possible from low budget to very exclusive.

2. Golfing along the Garden Route
There are several fantastic courses all over the country, but some of the finest you will find along the Garden Route.

3. A rugby match of the Springboks
(South African national rugby team)

4. Walking in the Drakensberg
It is a truly fantastic mountain with spectacular views and beautiful waterfalls. In the Drakensberg you can walk for hours and hike without meeting anyone.

5. Skydiving with a view on Table Mountain
If you like adrenaline activities, this is a must. It's not just very exciting to do, but it also gives spectacular views.

6. Diving in the subtropical parts of South Africa.
You can walk along the coast of South Africa and go scuba diving, especially in the northeast, just below the border of Mozambique. The water is warm; there are beautiful coral reefs and many large and small fish.

7. Wine tasting in the Cape Winelands
Wineries from Franschhoek and Stellenbosch - especially the houses in traditional Cape Dutch style are beautiful. Also in Paarl and Somerset West are some nice estates. Advice: spend a night on a wine state or guesthouse nearby so you can taste as many different wines as you like.

8. Taking a walk on the deserted beaches of example the Wild Coast.
A beach should be assured in a country where there are so many coastlines to find!  When you are in the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal walks on the beaches of the Wild Coast or on the beach in Paternoster ... it's all equally beautiful.

9. With a small plane or helicopter along the south coast and fly the Peninsula.
You go up in Cape Town and then you fly an hour along the coast to Hermanus and back. Not cheap, but a great experience.

10. Finally, in the top ten:
Braai (South African name for barbeque). Everything is on the braai: fresh seafood from the ocean, marinated lamb, national specialty springbok, a simple burger, corn between the coals, braai sandwiches or baked potatoes in foil. You rarely find a South African which cannot braai - this is what they all do.
