City Robertson

Robertson: "A small place with a big heart".... Where you will be met by a warm welcome throughout the year and one wine festival is followed by another. Here where the quiet slumbering village awaits visitors who marvel at the flowering of jacarandas and roses, which in turn again is alternating with the yellow and red cannas and brightly coloured bougainvillea's. Here you will find 150 years of history in Victorian homes.

Robertson is located 1.5 hours' drive from Cape Town. In the valley of the Breede River and in the shadow of the Langeberg Mountains ... It is at the start of the "Route 62" with its beautiful mountain passes.

Robertson in the Western Cape is known for its dried fruits, sweet dessert wines and brandies but also its Chardonnays have a good reputation. It is the place for Farm stalls with fresh produce like; olive oil, dried fruit, fresh baked breads and homemade jams. Every 2nd Saturday of the month you can go to the market for more fresh products ...

Throughout the year there are wine festivals beginning in February with the; Hands on Harvest festival, in June, the Wacky Wine Weekend in August Robertson Slow. In September they have the Wine Valley Festival and in October the Wine on the River Festival.

Do not worry if you miss the wine tasting festival as there are many wine farms. For lunch and dinner, go to restaurants with scenic views or in historic hotels.

A river cruise or canoe trip is wonderful if you are looking for the coolness of the water on a hot day. And for golf lovers there is the Silwerstrand, 18 hole golf course. You can get lost in the Soekershof Botanical Gardens, where you can hide in a maze.

In the mountains you can go on a game drive and instead of by car, you can also go horse riding! For children, the Bird's Paradise is fun, here you will also find birds, crocodiles, monkeys and a playground.
