Restaurants General

Come and slide in one of the many excellent restaurants that South Africa is rich of! With a versatile kitchen with influences from all over the world, it is obvious that the foodie here can always find something to his or her liking.

You will find star chefs, heavenly cooking and dining under the stars, while enjoying heavenly dishes that go into the "Wine and Food Capital of the Cape"; Franschhoek. In this small village there are some fantastic restaurants. Just outside the village, in the protection of the mountains between the vines lie some wonderful wine estates where you can often stay besides wining. How easy can we make it?

Are you more a person for City life? You will surely prefer Cape Town. A lunch at the Waterfront with views of Table Mountain makes for a pleasant afternoon. Or watch the sun set while the aperitif sitting with your back to the "Twelve Apostles", feeling the sea breeze and having ocean views. A cosmopolitan city offers restaurants with flavours from around the world in small bistros, modern restaurants, pizzerias and many other distinguished venues.

A few steps away from Cape Town is Stellenbosch, where some of the Top 10 restaurants are found in South Africa. Most are located on a wine estate and will be aesthetically pleasing in addition to your taste buds, because they often have incredibly beautiful views. No sense to go for a full dinner, then go picnicking next to water or in the shade of tall trees. In Stellenbosch you can also enjoy traditional African cuisine in authentic Cape Dutch style.

Those that make round-trips might go along the coast and there are plenty of restaurants that you can get the most succulent seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes, but it is just so delicious and varied. Knysna is famous for its oysters, which come from our own nursery there. But crab and lobster are not to be missed treats that you will find regularly on your menu there.

The inland with places like Swellendam, Oudtshoorn, Graaff-Reinet often opt for "Country Style" restaurants, where chefs prepare the most delicious dishes with great attention with ingredients from the garden or seasonal and regional products from the neighbours pecan tarts, Karoo lamb and homemade ice cream, something that will make you lick your fingers.

Look under General Information at restaurants and look at the places (cities/towns) that you are visiting for tips on restaurants we have already selected. Please note that many Christian holidays many restaurants are closed and on 1 January.

For reservations, please let us know. If you booked your trip with us, we provide free booking of restaurants. We give you therefore advice on the choice of restaurants in the places that are not mentioned.

It is common to give 10% - 15% tip because the service staff generally receive a small salary.
