City Kleinbaai

Kleinbaai is located on the so-called Danger Point Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean 3 kilometres away from Gansbaai. Both places are known for its shark diving as the great white sharks occur here in large numbers. From the natural harbour of Kleinbaai boats can be launched for daredevils who are then lowered in a cage into the ocean in order to see the sharks frighteningly close. The main reason for the presence of many sharks here is the large number of seals in Dyer Island (about 50 000).

Kleinbaai  is seen as the 'little sister' of Gansbaai and is nicely situated between the Milkwood trees. Families often prefer the quieter Kleinbaai since there are rock pools where it is safer for small children to play in the water.

From Kleinbaai is a path to Danger Point, where the lighthouse is located. You will see that this part of the mainland compared to the rest of the coastline can be quite treacherous for ships in the dark or in bad weather. The gravel path is even difficult for 4x4 vehicles, but is perfect for a nice hike / walk.

From Kleinbaai boat tours are also offered for whale watching. Between June and December you will find these impressively large animals in the waters of the Kleinbaai area.

Kleinbaai has a 9-hole golf course with stunning ocean views. In the town itself there are enough eateries and accommodations.
