Gordon's restaurant, the heart of Andries Stockenström Guesthouse, is trying to get an excellent international reputation for world-class dining in a relaxed environment, the Karoo. Gordon is a former banker and real outdoorsman. He taught himself the master of cooking. He has a passion for the Karoo and uses only fresh and local ingredients for its exceptional cuisine and the elegant Karoo.

Gordon's idea for the origin of each main ingredient of each course (from the country to the fork) guarantees you the craziest game dishes and succulent Karoo lamb. He hunts all the game personally and if you are lucky enough you can enjoy wild salmon (lightly smoked with Rooibos tea), and then you know that he has caught it himself.

His rather unusual but delicious whiskey and honey marinated Cape hare, is one of the most popular dishes in the elegant restaurant (of course he chases the hare himself). He can even tell you where, when and how he caught every hare. Limited space and strict booking processes ensure you have a great experience while on holiday in South Africa. It is therefore not surprising that the tables are already booked months in advance.
