City Cintsa

This small village on the coast of the Indian Ocean is located 40 kilometres north-east of East London in the Eastern Cape. Cintsa belongs to the so-called Wild Coast with its beautiful and unspoilt countryside and beautiful coastlines.

Cintsa (or Chintsa) is situated at the mouth of the Cintsa River and is a popular area for anglers. Many visitors return to this little paradise with its lagoon, white beaches, green forests and many birds. The beaches are much quieter than in e.g. East London, and a lot friendlier for children as there usually are few waves. Cintsa actually consists of two parts: Cintsa East on the north side of the river and Cintsa West on the southern side.

In addition to fish, you can go hiking, canoeing on the river, horseback riding or visit the nearby Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve. Here you can spot rhinos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, kudu and various goats and antelopes. There are separate sections in the park where lions and elephants are housed. You can opt for a morning, afternoon or sunset game drive in a safari car with a guide. Other safaris offered are horseback, quad biking, mountain biking and even a ride on the back of an elephant. Advance booking is required for most activities. The reserve has an excellent restaurant where you can have lunch or dinner after the chosen activity.

To stay, you can opt for Inkwekwezi Private Game Reserve.
